Welcome to Busy Bees Woodend

Our tamariki and whānau feel a sense of belonging at Busy Bees Woodend, and we welcome new families in, where they feel right at home.  Our centre provides nurturing and stimulating areas for children with its separate nursery and preschool rooms, as well as areas where tamariki can come together to share tuakana-teina (older-younger child) interactions. We offer a well resourced backyard play area for our tamariki that was completely revamped in 2022. We promote the development and learning of each child through positive partnerships with parents and open communication at all times with family, tangata whenua, whānau, and community.  We pride ourselves on our strong connections with our community both within and outside of our centre.

Exploring our local community is something we love to do. It provides so many learning opportunities as children explore the community around them. Excursions also provide great learning about health and safety whilst out and about in the community, seeing new things, meeting new people and developing working theories about the world around us.

Our strong connections with our local community means we enjoy getting involved in local events, visiting Woodend School as well as supporting local businesses. We get to know our individual families with kaiako and families interacting together as a wider whānau. We form strong trusting relationships, which then supports happy and settled children through the transition process. We create a sense of belonging, welcoming new families in as part of our centre whānau.

We are committed to follow the aspirations of the New Zealand National ECE Curiculum, Te Whāriki. Te Whāriki envisages kaiako in early learning settings working in partnership with parents, whānau and community to realise this vision. The expectation is that, in their early years, children will experience a curriculum that empowers them as lifelong learners, right from their early exploration of the world around them, through to preparation for school.
